Greenoak’s third Volunteer of the Year Awards competition launches this month to find Woking’s extra special unsung heroes. These awards recognise the fantastic contributions so many volunteers make to people’s lives in Woking Borough.
Joining Woking & Sam Beare Hospices’ ladies-only 8-mile Midnight Walk – sponsored by Trident Honda and Freedom Leisure – on Friday 19 May is a great chance to raise your own health levels while you raise funds for the hospices.
Wahay! I earned the Top Contributor Award for January 2015 at WokingOnline’s WokingHour 🙂
Just before Christmas of 2014 I decided to track down some local Twitter hours. It was remarkably easy – I just googled #UKHours and found a whole host of them (try it!). I was pleased to find a ‘local hour’ devoted to the town in which I live and therefore decided to chip in.
As it turns out, #WokingHour (and the Twitter account @WokingHour) is still fairly new, as far as I can see, but it looks like it’s going to be THE go-to place for all things Woking in the future…
I’m in the process of building up quite a catalogue of new contacts as a result of my involvement in #WokingHour which takes place every Wednesday evening between 20:00 and 21:00hrs (GMT). It feels good to be tweeting with ‘local’ people and businesses – though non-locals are welcome, too.
Suffice to say I’ll be hanging out on Twitter during #WokingHour every Wednesday (time permitting!), and I hope to ‘see’ you there!
